Occasions when prudence is the better part of common sense
Wednesday 23 April 2008- Roger Woodman THE French military operation in support of the cruiseship Le Ponant off Somalia and the liberation of her 30 crew members was a welcome relief to Lloyd’s List readers. The fact that Le Ponant is a cruiseship ensured the vessel’s plight secured a place in international headlines, even if one gets a sense that both the pirates and the newshounds somewhat regretted the absence of seriously wealthy passengers who might have given the incident a rather different complexion.
