Naval forces establish Somalia safety zone

Move comes as piracy attacks in Gulf of Aden intensify, with four vessels hijacked in 48-hours

COALITION naval forces in the Gulf of Aden have finally moved to establish a patrol zone that should offer merchant vessels safe passage through the pirate-infested waters off Somalia.

The move is certain to be welcomed by the shipping industry, whose leading representative bodies have long called for a military response to the growing problem.
