Italian MP has few obvious qualifications for commissioner role

ITALIAN Euro MP Antonio Tajani has been nominated as the new European Union transport commissioner.

Mr Tajani, 55, who heads the EU wing of the Forza Italia political party of Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi, is set to replace Franco Frattini, who has resigned from the European Commission to become Italy’s foreign minister.
