Russian reefer leaking fuel oil in Barents Sea

THE Russian reefer vessel which ran aground in the Barents Sea yesterday morning is being smashed against rocks and is leaking fuel oil.

The 1287 dwt Petrozavodsk sent a mayday signal early yesterday morning. Norwegian coastguard scrambled a rescue helicopter and airlifted the 12 crew members to safety.
