Box volumes fall in Savannah but remain solidly above prepandemic levels
Georgia port container volumes drop 28% in August compared with last year’s record levels, but remain 13.9% above the same period in 2019
Operating capacity in the port of Savannah fell in August as the port was rebuilding several berths, Georgia Port Authority chief executive Gryff Lynch said, while other east and US Gulf coast ports also saw volumes fall compared with the record-breaking levels of the same period last year.
