France gave hacked Sky ECC data to the US, allowing Goran Gogic’s arrest in MSC Gayane coke-smuggling case. The defence will argue that private communications seized merely because law enforcement alleges that the use of a platform is in itself suspicious is so Orwellian that such evidence be made inadmissible
The US alleges that Montenegrin Goran Gogic, arrested in 2022, was the logistics coordinator for the drug smuggling operation on board the containership MSC Gayane in 2019. The prosecution hinges on communications data hacked by European law enforcement from the Sky ECC encrypted phone system. The data’s use by US prosecutors is now being challenged by Gogic’s legal team
