US sanctions over a dozen ships linked to assassinated Syrian businessman and Iranian oil
Four of the vessels were also previously sanctioned by Israel. Two others were previously designated under the Venezuela programme
The US has sanctioned 26 ships, entities and individuals linked to Syrian business conglomerate Al-Qatirji Company, whom the US says sold Iranian oil for the benefit of the IRGC and the Houthis. The company’s chief was assassinated in July, while four of the vessels designated today were sanctioned by Israel earlier this year
