Watch aftermath of Israel’s attack on Yemeni port

One vessel was reportedly fired on as it left Ras Isa

The Israeli Defence Force confirmed it was responsible for the attack which followed ‘repeated UAV and surface-to-surface missile attacks against Israel’

LLOYD’S List has obtained footage which shows the aftermath of Israel’s attack on the Yemeni port of Ras Isa on Friday, January 10.

The footage shows smoke billowing from port infrastructure and crew on board a vessel scrambling to assess damage in the direct aftermath of the attack from Israeli fighter jets on the port.

EOS Risk Group head of advisory, Martin Kelly, said Palau-flagged, 2000-built, 68,626 dwt crude oil tanker Atlantis MZ (IMO: 9218181) was fired on as it was leaving Ras Isa.

Images obtained by Lloyd’s List shows holes in the superstructure of the tanker.

The Houthis have launched 320 UAVs and 40 surface-to-surface missiles at Israel since they joined the war started by Hamas on October 7, 2023, according to IDF figures cited by Israel outlet ynet and as reported by Lloyd’s List on January 10.

Three UAVs were intercepted by Israel on the evening of January 9, which the Houthis later claimed responsibility for launching. They also claimed to have struck a US aircraft carrier and other naval assets in the Red Sea.

In a statement via X confirming responsibility for the attack, the IDF said the Houthis attacks on international shipping “continue to destabilise the region and the wider world” and said it would “continue to operate at any distance against any threat” to Israel or its citizens.
