Dark fleet risk growing, says IMO secretary-general
The International Maritime Organization’s Legal Committee meets in March to develop best practices in ship registration and consider conducting a ‘regulatory scoping exercise’ to address increased numbers of falsely flagged ships and those in the dark fleet not complying with conventions and regulations
IMO to focus on helping the small flag states exploited by the dark fleet, as secretary-general also calls on member states to carry out their port state control duties to help tackle the problem
