InterManager names Sebastian von Hardenberg its new president
BSM chief executive succeeds Columbia’s Mark O’Neil, who served two terms
The third-party shipmanagers’ association is campaigning to reduce crew deaths in enclosed spaces, stop criminalisation of seafarers and prevent legal hassles over new fuels
BERNHARD Schulte Shipmanagement chief executive Sebastian Graf von Hardenberg was elected InterManager’s new president at its AGM yesterday.
Von Hardenberg succeeds Columbia Shipmanagement chief executive Mark O’Neil, who had served two terms at the head of the shipmanagers’ association.
Intermanager has been vocal in protesting criminalisation of seafarers, urging companies to come forward with data it can give to the International Maritime Organization.
It has also campaigned to reduce the number of ships’ crew killed while working in enclosed spaces on ships, caused by lack of oxygen or poisonous gas.
Von Hardenberg took the top job at Hamburg-based BSM on January 1, having worked for the Schulte Group in various jobs since 2005.
Yesterday he called for the IMO not to pin the burden for compliance with carbon regulations on ISM managers, as reported.
InterManager’s new vice-president is Raal Harris, chief creative officer at Ocean Technologies Group, the maker of crewing software recently bought by Lloyd’s Register.
