ONE and South Korea’s LX Pantos in US intermodal tie-up
The Boxlinks joint venture will provide end-to-end domestic intermodal transportation services in the US market
ONE said the tie-up would build a more resilient and agile inland network for its customers in the US domestic market. Boxlinks will provide customised service and access to an expanded equipment pool through optimised management of ONE’s container fleet at inland depots
JAPANESE container line Ocean Network Express is expanding into the US intermodal logistics market through its Boxlinks joint venture with South Korea-based global logistics provider LX Pantos.
The strategic partnership will leverage the combined strengths of ONE and LX Pantos to provide end-to-end domestic intermodal transportation services, utilising both companies’ partnerships with major rail carriers and trucking companies to provide efficient and timely delivery of cargo in the US, ONE said in a statement.
Boxlinks has reportedly sealed route services contracts with major US rail operators such as Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern and BNSF Railway.
ONE head of product & network Hiroki Tsujii said: “Through Boxlinks, we are transforming how we deliver value in the US. We will build a more resilient and agile inland network that will benefit our customers in the domestic market.”
Boxlinks will provide customised service to customers in the US at competitive prices, leveraging access to an expanded equipment pool. Customers can utilise containers through Boxlinks for their inland-to-coastal transportation needs, optimising efficiency across the supply chain.
The tie-up will essentially leverage equipment usage by optimising the management of ONE’s container fleet at inland depots in the US.
