Yemen Coast Guard intercepts military equipment destined for Houthis
A dhow, reportedly originating from Iran, was interdicted in the southern Red Sea
The dhow was loaded with a 40 ft container filled with jet engines used in cruise missiles, reconnaissance drones, marine radars and a jamming system, among other items
THE internationally recognised government of Yemen has interdicted a shipment of Iranian weapons components, drone and communications equipment destined for the Houthis.
On February 12 the Yemen Coast Guard intercepted a dhow in the southern Red Sea, US Central Command said in a post on X.
The shipment, reportedly originating from Iran, was destined for the Houthi-controlled port Hodeidah.
A 40 ft container was loaded onto the dhow. It contained various military equipment including cruise missile structures, jet engines used in cruise missiles and suicide drones, and reconnaissance drones.
Also on board were marine radars, a jamming system and a wireless communications system.
The Houthis announced a near-total stop to their campaign of aggression against merchant shipping in the Red Sea on January 19 when a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect.
The last reported attack carried out by the Houthis on commercial vessels took place in December, when Houthi drones and missiles targeted a convoy of US-flagged vessels and US warships.
