Marcura acquires tanker demurrage specialist HubSE
With the latest acquisition Marcura claims to be the first provider of demurrage solutions across all commodities
HubSE’s specialised oil and chemical tanker expertise will be integrated into Marcura Claims, the maritime digitalisation platform’s solution for processing and managing claims
MARITIME technology services provider Marcura continues to expand its service offerings with the acquisition of UK-based oil and chemical tanker demurrage claims automation provider HubSE.
The latest strategic acquisition positions Marcura as the first provider of demurrage solutions across all commodities, which it claims will help to simplify demurrage claims for shipowners and charterers.
HubSE’s oil and chemical tanker expertise will be integrated into Marcura Claims, the maritime digitalisation platform’s solution for processing and managing claims.
No financial details were disclosed.
“Managing demurrage claims has often meant juggling different tools, processes and providers depending on the cargo,” said group chief executive Henrik Hyldahn.
He said that with HubSE coming on board the platform, shipowners and charterers would have a single solution that covers all major commodity types for the first time.
HubSE was founded in 2009 and has since gained recognition for putting in place a system that can handle the challenges of demurrage in the tanker market, where intricate contracts and highly variable cargo make the claims process complex.
Co-founder Tim Bridges said: “Joining Marcura marks the next evolution for HubSE’s technology.”
The acquisition of HubSE is the latest in Marcura’s recent acquisition drive, which include procurement specialist ShipServ in 2023 and ship maintenance platform VesselMan earlier this year.
