HAPAG-LLOYD subsidiary Hanseatic Global Terminals has acquired a 60% stake in the operator of Le Havre’s Atlantique container terminal.
CNMP LH was owned by Seafrigo Group, which will retain a 40% stake in the operator following the sale to HGT.
Le Havre ranks among Europe’s leading container ports, with an annual throughput of 3m teu, while serving the French hinterland, including Paris.
HGT chief executive Dheeraj Bhatia said the acquisition strengthens “our position in one of our core European markets”.
“At the same time, we are continuing to expand our global terminal portfolio, while paving the way for targeted investments to enhance efficiency.”
Seafrigo president said the deal “will significantly raise the profile of our joint terminal as an important gateway for container transports in the port of Le Havre”.
HGT said it aims to expand its portfolio to more than 30 terminals by 2030.
