Onboard carbon capture can enable long-term GHG intensity compliance, study shows

A new GCMD study has found that onboard carbon capture systems can reduce well-to-tank ship emissions by up to 29% — and by up to 121% when combined with biofuels compared to using heavy fuel oil

This technology could allow shipowners to stay compliant with the IMO’s GHG Intensity targets through to 2040, supporting a viable path for long-term decarbonisation
