Limpet mine attack suspected cause of StealthGas blast

  • US-Listed SteathGas LPG tanker Eco Wizard holed by two separate explosions loading in Ust Luga
  • Sources have told Lloyd’s List that limpet mines are strongly suspected to be the cause of the blasts
  • If confirmed, Eco Wizard becomes the sixth tanker linked to Russian operations to be targeted with explosive devices this year

All 23 crew are reported safe and the liquid ammonia spill caused by the blasts is ‘minor’ and under control. But if the cause of this latest explosion is proven to be another limpet mine attack, as senior sources close to the company suspect, this will be the sixth such attack this year with no culprits yet identified
