Hyundai LNG sells second steam turbine gas carrier for scrap
- South Korea’s Hyundai LNG has sold a 25-year-old LNG carrier for recycling on an ‘as is’ basis
- Sale follows that of the 1996-built Hyundai Greenpia to Indian ship recyclers in January
- Several shipowners have committed steam turbine LNG tankers for recycling after a downturn in freight rates from the third quarter of 2024
Ship recyclers remain starved of tonnage but rising steel plate prices could lead to more owners selling aged ships for scrap
