Carriers buy bulk of secondhand boxships in first half of year
- A total of 191 containerships were sold for further trading in the first half of this year
- Over 100 vessels were purchased by container liner operators with MSC and CMA CGM being most active
- Most sale and purchase transactions were for ships of below 3,000 teu
French liner operator CMA CGM is said to have purchased a pair of 1,300 teu boxships from Singapore-based owners in the past week
