CMB.Tech completes Golden Ocean merger
CEO Saverys hails transformation of CMB.Tech from tanker player to diversified maritime powerhouse
Golden Ocean shareholders received a total of 95.9m CMB.Tech shares as a payment for the merger, as the bulker owner ceased trading on the Nasdaq and Oslo Bors exchanges
CMB.TECH has formally completed its merger with Golden Ocean, in just under six months since it first purchased John Fredriksen’s stake in the bulker owner.
That transaction, worth more than $1bn, kicked off a string of share purchases by the Saverys-owned company that saw it sign a merger term sheet in April 2025.
Now the merger has been formally completed, after being approved by Golden Ocean shareholders at a special general meeting.
Golden Ocean shareholders received 95.95m CMB.Tech shares as payment for the merger, after shares of the bulker owner stopped trading on the Nasdaq and Oslo Bors stock exchanges on August 19.
The combined fleet of both companies now boasts more than 250 vessels including tankers, containerships, bulk carriers and offshore wind vessels, and has a market value of more than $11bn.
CMB.Tech chief executive Alexander Saverys said his company was “delighted” to complete the merger.
“In less than 18 months, we have transformed a pure play crude oil tanker company into a large and leading diversified and future-proof maritime group,” he said.
He said his company had just one goal: “Decarbonise today to navigate tomorrow.”
