Western Hemisphere crude exports rise in 2025 despite US decline
- Total seaborne crude exports from the Americas averaged 9.3m bpd in January-September, up 4.5% year on year
- Seaborne crude from the hemisphere’s largest exporter, the US, averaged 3.6m bpd in January-September, down 6% year on year despite a surge in cargoes last month
- Seaborne crude exports have increased year to date from Canada, Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana and Argentina, counterbalancing declines from the US, Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia
The good news for crude tanker markets: the Americas is becoming a larger player in global trades. The bad news: cargoes have been falling this year from the US, the largest exporter in the region
