Maersk confirms routeing of first mainline service via Suez Canal since 2023
- Maersk said it will now route a weekly Middle East-India to US East Coast container service back through the Suez Canal
- It marks its first structural shift away from Cape of Good Hope diversions since Red Sea disruptions began in November 2023
- Switch follows successful test transits of Maersk Sebarok and Maersk Denver, and will reduce voyage times by around a week
Operated solely by Maersk, the rerouted service deploys a mix of ships of between 6,000 teu and 8,600 teu vessels, including US-flagged vessels carrying US government cargo
