Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd confirm Gemini’s Red Sea debut
- The first joint service under the Gemini Cooperation will begin transits through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal from mid-February
- The Middle East-Mediterranean ‘ME11’ service is operated by 16,500 teu Maersk-operated ships
- Maersk has disclosed that two Asia-Europe Gemini services may also be rerouted via the Red Sea and Suez Canal in due course
Rerouting of ‘ME11’ service marks the second Maersk-operated container line service to resume Suez transits, following the return of a Middle East-India-US East Coast service in January
