The week in newbuildings: Orders for 30 new ships signed across multiple sectors

  • In dry cargo, Seaspan contracted four 65,200 dwt open-hatch gantry crane vessels at New Dayang Shipbuilding in China, marking a continuation in investing beyond its core containership business
  • In the tanker segment, Stealth Maritime returned to the VLCC market with an order for two 320,000 dwt vessels at Hanwha Ocean in South Korea, scheduled for delivery in 2030

Ordering activity remains strong with shipowners placing orders for 30 vessels in the past week spanning the boxship, dry cargo, tanker, gas and cruise sectors
