Shipping trade bodies stick by net zero ambition ahead of MEPC84
- Industry bodies call for certainty on regulation to avoid patchwork of regional measures
- Liner shipping groups have invested billions in greenery and need regulation for their investments to pay off
- Explicit support for IMO’s 2023 GHG Strategy indicates more support for NZF among liner shipping companies over measures that don’t cut emissions
ICS, BIMCO, the World Shipping Council, Intertanko, Intercargo, Interferry and the Cruise Lines International Association say they are committed to the IMO’s climate strategy, in a joint statement that hints at greater climate ambition without coming down firmly on either side of the NZF debate
