Global container lines have over 40 boxships still marooned by Hormuz fallout
- A combined 43 containerships operated by the world’s top 10 container lines remain stranded in the Middle East Gulf
- The outbreak of strikes on Iran in late February forced all leading carriers to suspend regional services, causing significant delays and rising costs for global trade
- CMA CGM, Cosco, Hapag-Lloyd and MSC have each managed to evacuate some ships safely, although two MSC vessels were seized by Iranian authorities
The disruption has extended to boxship tonnage providers, as around one third of all containerships stuck in Middle East Gulf are chartered vessels
