More than 150 tankers still trapped in Gulf as Japanese VLCC appears to exit Hormuz
- Over 150 non-sanctioned crude oil and product tankers remain stranded in the Middle East Gulf, even as limited vessel movements resumed following the April 8 ceasefire
- They include 62 very large crude carriers, with most arriving before hostilities began in February
- Although some inbound and outbound movements have resumed, including a possible first Japanese VLCC departure, traffic remains constrained
Key global tanker shipowners including Cosco, Frontline, Mitsui OSK, NYK and Sinokor each have multiple vessels still unable to exit
