Alternative fuel boxship newbuild orders stall as focus shifts to feeder fleet replacement

  • Orders for dual-fuel containerships have declined significantly in 2026, but the trend reflects changing fleet investment priorities rather than a retreat from decarbonisation
  • Of the more than 200 containerships ordered since January only 25% of them have been specified to dual-fuel propulsion, compared to 60% in the first five months of 2025
