Somali piracy resurgence claims another vessel as bulk carrier hijacked off Yemen

  • Bulker Glamor was reportedly hijacked by a pirate group some 98 nautical miles southwest of Mukalla, Yemen, after reporting a suspicious skiff approach
  • Attack follows a string of recent incidents that have heightened concerns over the resurgence of Somali piracy across the Gulf of Aden and western Indian Ocean

The hijacking of Glamor off Yemen is the latest sign that Somali pirate groups are regaining the capability to strike commercial vessels far from shore, despite years of international naval patrols
