Ports have role to play in decarbonising shipping
As regulators ponder how to ensure a fresh global commitment to at least halve shipping emissions by 2050, the ITF insists ports be part of that conversation. While green incentives exist in many of the biggest ports, more needs to be done to augment their efficacy.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s International Transport Forum suggests that vessel port fees should be directly linked to greenhouse gas emissions
