Port of Houston targets ship channel expansion
‘With our channel seeing 9,000+ vessels a year, it is imperative to maintain two-way traffic,’ says port director Roger Guenther. ‘We’re all in this together. We‘re looking forward to expedite this project because Houston is a major port for the country.’
The port has been working with the US Army Corps of Engineers on a plan that includes easing bends, widening the bay reach of the channel to 700 ft, and widening the Bayport Ship Channel and Barbours Cut Channel to 455 ft
