Vale suspends operations at Alegria mine
Vale continues to face production impacts from the fatal tailings dam collapse two months ago that killed more than 200 people in Brazil. It has now temporarily closed its Alegria mine in the Mariana complex as a precaution after stability tests were inconclusive and until such time as it can sign the mine off as safe again
The miner expects the maximum potential impact from the stoppage to be no more than about 10m tonnes of iron ore per year
