US Senators fear Trump may snub IMO 2020

Fourteen US Senators from US President Donald Trump’s party have urged him to allow the 0.5% sulphur cap in marine fuels regulation to take effect as planned in January. They argue that any attempt to reverse the supranational red tape drawn up by the IMO might create market uncertainty, cause harm to the energy industry and potentially backfire on consumers

A group of legislators in the US are making the argument that the new IMO sulphur cap regulation will benefit the president’s energy agenda as observers wonder whether the White House will put a stop to IMO 2020 in order to stop energy prices rising
