Torm study finds SOx emissions drastically lower using scrubbers
Danish tanker owner Torm reveals that in a study, sulphur oxide emissions were drastically lower from using a scrubber than using compliant fuels. It also reports operational reliability was close to 100%
The study, compiled by independent consultant Niels Bjorn Mortensen, was based on analysis of operations from 29 ships with data taken from January through end-July. Despite the fuel spreads narrowing, extending the period of returns on investment, the company says the investment still makes sense
