HMM nominates Kyung-bae Kim as chief executive

HMM, the national flagship carrier of South Korea, says it has nominated Kyung-bae Kim as its new chief executive to spearhead the group’s sustainable growth and lead the expansion of its presence in the global market.
It said the nomination of the former chief executive of Hyundai Glovis would be confirmed at a shareholders’ meeting on March 29.
Mr Kim, who was one of several candidates considered for the role, “is regarded as a logistics expert who led the steady growth of Hyundai Glovis” over a decade, HMM said in a statement.

Before joining Hyundai Glovis, Mr Kim served as chief finance officer at Hyundai Motor America in 2000 before moving on as chief finance officer of Hyundai Glovis America three years later.
In 2006, he became head of corporate planning at car parts company Hyundai Mobis in 2006. The following year, he became chief secretary of Hyundai Motor Group and a year later took up the post of head of global strategy.
He became chief executive of Hyundai Glovis in 2009.
