MSC agrees $6.3bn deal to acquire Bollore Group’s Africa logistics unit
The acquisition will include all of Bollore Group’s shipping, logistics and terminal operations in Africa, as well as its terminal operations in India, Haiti and East Timor

MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Co has agreed to acquire Bolloré SE’s Africa logistics unit in a deal worth €5.7bn ($6.3bn).
The world’s largest container line said the acquisition will include all of Bolloré Africa Logistics terminal operations, as well as its terminal operations in India, Haiti and East Timor.
It said the purchase price is based on an enterprise value, net of minority interests. Completion of the deal is subject to approvals, including those from relevant competition authorities.
Talks between the two parties started at the end of last year.
“The acquisition of Bolloré Africa Logistics reaffirms MSC Group’s long-standing commitment to invest in Africa and to strengthen supply chains across the continent, and to connect it to the rest of the world,” the company said in a statement.
Bolloré Africa Logistics is the largest transport and logistics operator in Africa, with 250 subsidiaries and about 21,000 employees in 49 countries, including 47 in Africa.
It has a presence in 42 ports and its operations include 16 container terminal facilities and seven ro-ro terminals, according to its website.
