Import slump catches up with US east coast ports as nationwide volumes edge close to 2019 levels

For the first time since July 2020, the ports of Savannah, Virginia and Charleston have all reported year-on-year declines in imports

Key east and US Gulf coast ports have sustained growth, while US imports increasingly declined in the second half of the year. November’s data suggests that their import volumes are aligning with the broader trend in the US, where total imports in November have fallen within 2.8% of 2019 levels, according to a report by Descartes
