Russia proposes extending Black Sea grain deal for shorter period
The original Black Sea grain agreement allowed one automatic rollover for 120 days, provided there were no objections. While that renewed in November last year, talks are ongoing about a further extension.
Russia is proposing that the grain deal be extended for 60 days, which is half the period of the initial agreement. In any case, the extension will keep grains moving, supporting bulker demand in the Black Sea region
