Los Angeles posts strong June volumes
Port throughput in June was only 5% below the past year’s record, but July is expected to be softer, with nine blank sailings
The port of Los Angeles had its strongest month since July of the past year, with imports down only 2.1% year on year, compared with a 17.5% decline across major US ports projected by the US National Retail Federation. Following the announcement of a tentative labour deal, executive director Gene Seroka argues that while the focus is now on bringing back cargo that has shifted to other gateways, it will take time and some cargo will not return
