Lloyd’s List Intelligence agrees data tie-up with UK’s Sedna

Sedna’s new chartering solution will use Lloyd’s List Intelligence data for critical fixture decisions

Partnership will see Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s vessel-tracking data integrated into communication software developer’s new AI-driven solution for charterers, Pulse

LLOYD’S List Intelligence has announced a partnership with UK-based data-driven communication software company Sedna.

The tie-up will see Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s vessel-tracking data integrated into Sedna’s AI-driven product pulse, a one-stop shop for chartering teams comparing fixture opportunities with vessel data and availability information.

With charterers receiving thousands of emails with numerous data points and sources that must all be analysed ahead of critical fixture decisions, the Pulse platform seeks to make this information digestible and manageable.

Pulse sits on top of an email inbox, extracting and consolidating data within emails into a single, customised view. This shortens the entire analysis process and allows charterers to find deals faster and generate more business, according to its developer Sedna.

Available as an add-on feature, Pulse will display Lloyd’s List Intelligence insights on live vessel Automatic Identification System tracker positions, vessel characteristics, ownership history, sanctions compliance analysis and other risk indicators. This will be accessible without having to leave the app.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Lloyd’s List Intelligence because connections to trusted data sources make us confident that Pulse will become a go-to solution for charterers, unlocking their competitive edge through data-driven decision making,” said Sedna founder and chief executive Bill Dobie.

The partnership with Sedna follows Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s strategic co-operation with London-based commodities and data analytics provider, Vortexa, announced last month.

On the announcement of Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s latest data partner, chief executive Michael Dell noted the alignment of Sedna’s goals to reduce operational inefficiency and mitigation of operational risks.

The partnership, he said, “showcases our commitment to reducing complexity and day to day friction for charterers”.

Sedna’s includes Ardmore Shipping, Glencore, Pacific BasinStena Bulk and Norden among its customers.
