Eric covers the tankers market for Lloyd’s List from the shipping and commodity trading hub of Singapore. He keeps a close watch on the wide range of market fundamentals that drive seaborne energy transportation and freight markets.

Eric’s areas of interest include crude, product and chemical tankers, gas carriers, oil terminals and trade flows. He also tracks macroeconomic trends like geopolitics, regulations and climate change. Oil price movements are a constant source of adrenaline for him.

Eric joined Lloyd’s List in October 2015 and has over seven years of experience covering the energy sector including primary fossil fuels like oil, gas and coal, nuclear energy and renewables. He has covered commodity market turmoil, oil major strategies and the interplay between physical commodity trading and billion-dollar paper markets.

Prior to joining Lloyd’s List, Eric was a staff reporter for the WSJ and Dow Jones Newswires in Singapore where he covered energy and commodities. He also worked in Mumbai for Dow Jones India as an energy reporter, and at Reuters in various capacities including staff correspondent and data analyst.  

Eric grew up in the Himalayan foothills in India and loves high-altitude trekking and hiking. When not counting oil barrels he likes to travel, dabbles in analog photography and likes to settle down with a good graphic novel and strong coffee.
