Petition filed last month by US labour unions ‘presents serious and concerning allegations’ of China’s trade practices, USTR Katherine Tai said
The USTR has initiated a Section 301 investigation into ‘China’s targeting of the maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding sectors for dominance’ after labour unions filed a petition calling for the investigation last month. If it finds the allegations are true, the White House could hit China with tariffs or other trade curbs. China dismissed the investigation as politically motivated and called on the US to respect facts and multilateral rules
